Teachings”
The most awaited
flower Show of Garden City, starts on 17th January,2020 and will end
on 26th January,2020 on Republic day.
This year flower show
is organized to commemorate 157th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
Around 6 Lakh flowers has used to create a floral representation of Vivekananda
Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari, Statue of Swami Vivekananda and His famous Chicago
Speech. This show has been inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
As everyone knows
Swami Vivekananda is a Great Spiritual Leader and Famous personality of the
world. He was born in Kolkata on January 12, 1863.
The great saint worked
hard for the upliftment of humanity. He developed a massive fan following after
he delivered an inspiring speech at a religious conference organised in Chicago
on 11th September, 1893.

The floral replica of Vivekananda is the major attraction of the
flower show and of 17 feet in height, 21
feet in length, and 8 feet wide. More than 40,000 saffron Flowers used for this
replica. All the flowers will be changed twice during the 10-days of the flower
show. Display of his saying, screening of documentaries by 02 large outdoor
screens, vivek Kuteera and statues of his different stages of life are the
major part of the this show.
The colourful flower
arrangements and intricate models on display make the exhibition attractive to visitors.
Hundreds of boards installed representing the Swami Vivekananda life story in
this show. In his show Flowers from 10 different countries have been imported. Plants
and saplings are also available for sale.
The event is jointly
organized by the Department of Horticulture and Mysore Horticulture Society.
More than 108 CCTV
cameras will be installed across the botanical garden. Police will be deputed
for the duration of the show along with Lalbagh's security personnel.
This year there would
be longer lasting flowers in more than 60 spots, including foothill of
Kempegowda towers, director's campus, DHO Lawn, Tree Fossil area, Java Fig area.
Lalbagh was established during the rule of Hyder Ali on
the model of Mogul garden at Sira. It was later enlarged by his son Tippu
Sultan. It is currently under the
aegis of the Directorate of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka. The
Directorate is housed amidst the splendid environs of the botanical garden.
Lalbagh was given the
status of a Government Botanical Garden in 1856, and since then, it has been an
internationally renowned centre for scientific study of plants and botanical
artwork and also conservation of plants. Formal and informal styles dominate
the garden in perfect harmony, which is a testimony to the beauty of nature.
Today, the garden is a lush green paradise with an area of 240 acres in the
heart of the city.
